From the GLOBES Director

Here, at the University of Notre Dame, we are very excited about the new GLOBES program and its potential to inspire ideas and discover solutions to real-world environmental problems in human and global health.

What creates the setting for GLOBES to flourish at Notre Dame is the University's dedication, as a leading Catholic institution of higher learning, to humanity. We have expert faculty in biology and the social sciences who appreciate and respect each other's talents. We have outstanding legal scholars, policy experts, and an international reputation for combating infectious diseases. We are the ideal size for making ideas work, combining the benefits of an intimate liberal arts college - where faculty and students know each other on a first-name basis - with the power of a major research university. Notre Dame's commitment to alleviating pain and suffering allows us to infuse our compassionate mission with intellectual pursuits in very distinct and practical ways that meet the needs of society, while also preparing our students to become the leaders of the future.

Jeff FederIn the spirit of interdisciplinary studies, GLOBES is helping foster the creation of a novel learning environment and the building of teams of scholars and scientists working toward a common purpose.

Team GLOBES invites you to join us in this pioneering initiative – together we bring hope for a better tomorrow.
