ND Students document Great Lakes Coastal Wetlands Monitoring Program
GLOBES Fellow Matt Cooper (Cohort 4, Faculty Advisor Gary Lamberti) worked with two Notre Dame undergraduates from the Department of Film, Television, and Theater (FTT) during the Summer of 2011 to document ongoing restoration efforts that are part of the Great Lakes Coastal Wetlands Monitoring program. Matt serves as a co-project manager and assistant quality control manager for the $10 million federal grant awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to Central Michigan University. Notre Dame is one of ten universities who are collaborating under the grant project that seeks to restore and protect vital wetland areas in the Great Lakes.
Notre Dame FTT students Erin Moffitt and Collin Erker received summer research awards from the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts to film preservation and restoration efforts associated with the coastal wetlands monitoring program. The end result is a 35-minute documentary entitled “Waterlogged.”
GLOBES REU student Mario Farias of Heritage University, State of Washington, also joined in the monitoring activities led by Matt Cooper and colleagues.
